About JLAC

Jim Larcombe started his career in Architectural Consultancy at the age of 16 working for a well-established Architectural Practice in Dorchester. Having completed his ONC in Building Studies, Jim turned his attention to his HNC, and trying to find work closer to home. He moved on to a smaller practice in Beaminster gaining more valuable experience and completing his qualifications.

In March 2011, Jim made the big step to go it alone and set up J Larcombe Architectural Consultant (JLAC) in his hometown of Lyme Regis. This has turned out to be a very successful step.

With an ever increasing client base and good local knowledge, Jim has now taken on over 120 projects, with the majority of work coming in West Dorset, East Devon, South Somerset, but also the odd project from further afield, with work presently going as far as Buckinghamshire.

In the past two years Jim has taken on a wide range of projects ranging from kitchen extensions, to barn conversions, new builds, and was part of the team of consultants to gain outline planning permission for the new school in Uplyme, Devon.

With a wide range of contacts to call upon, when required, Jim can take on any size project whether its a new porch, or a housing Development, Jim will always be interested. At JLAC, distance is never a problem, and as long as travelling costs can be covered, the work will be welcome.

Feasibility will involve looking into what is, possible with your project, taking into account physical and legal implications…

survey

Survey

A full survey of the existing building and site will be conducted to establish the basis for the new project.

design

Design

The design stage will see JLAC create the plans using CAD drawing software.

planning

Planning Application

When designs are complete they will be sent away to gain planning permission for the relevant planning council.

building_regulations

Building Regulations

The building regulations stage will involve reaching a set of guidelines with planners which will allow the design to be passed to the builders.

tender

Tender

Tender will involve getting a quote for your project from various builders, and making sure you, the client, are happy with the chosen team.
